Sierra (it dropped "Trading Post" from its name in 2018) and Steep and Cheap are where a lot of people learned that good outdoor gear doesn't have to cost full price. If you like those stores, you'll want a few more places to check before you buy.

Most lists of stores like Sierra are just names and logos. This page uses the deals we track every day, so for each store you can see how many items are on sale right now, how deep the discounts actually run, and the best markdowns at that store today.

How to get the most out of outlet and discount sites

Closeouts vs. seconds

Closeouts are new, first-quality items that are being discontinued or cleared out. Factory seconds have a small cosmetic flaw and are usually priced lower. Both can be great buys, but the product page should say which one you're getting.

Check the same item at more than one store

The same jacket or pack is often on sale at two or three of these stores at different prices. Our product pages show every retailer we track for an item, so you can see the lowest price before you click through.

Be flexible on color and model year

The deepest discounts are usually on last season's colors or the previous version of a product. If the specs haven't changed, the older version is often the better deal.

Read the return policy before you buy

Return rules for clearance and outlet items can differ from full-price purchases, and they vary by store. Check before you order, especially for footwear where fit matters.
